Done and Dusted

Well folks I managed to scratch my way into Cemlyn today, completing the distance and finding a small crowd awaiting in the wind. For a minute though I thought  had got the wrong beach as I couldn't hear the band playing nor see the people dancing.

So that is it, a solo circumnavigation of the UK mainland by sea kayak in 72 days, I think.

I will write more details later.

I am pleased, flattered and a little surprised by the popularity of this blog. I intend to keep it going in the short term at least. I still have plenty of thoughts to put down relating to the adventure - from the day to day life, to details of the kit, the planning and physiological side. Hopefully some of it may be interesting to you.

Thankyou to all those who braved the weather, venturing out to see me today and yesterday; I do appreciate it. And a thankyou to all those who offered and gave support and encouragement on the way; the little things can make a big difference.

But most of all I have to thank Pascale - a very special lady who worked so hard to support me.
I owe you so much.

Got to go now, the dishwasher needs emptying.

Back soon though...

Congratulations John, you may take a day off now! :-)

So glad to hear you made it, the weather was looking like it might get the last laugh.

You'll need to think about the charities again now, I'm sure taking the record by a week is worth a lot of donations....

Well done etc. Now get yourself down here. There a couple of islands in the South Pacific that need paddling around.

FANTASTIC! Brilliant effort from yourself and super-support crew Pascale. Going to miss the blog, which has been amazing, but looking forward to updates to the Performance Sea Kayak Gossip page instead - that always keeps me entertained. Sorry you didn't make it for the Conwy Ascent - it was a good one!

I stumbled across your blog by accident.(I am an old uni pal of Mike Webb). I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your trip. A great adventure. Might even buy a Kayak and try a bit of paddling myself. Well done.
